Green Hill Pond
The natural centerpiece of Green Hill Park, Green Hill Pond is the result of late 19th century engineering by Martin Green (brother to Andrew H. Green). Martin Green decided to dam the Bear Brook valley in 1878 to form an ‘extensive water body,’ what we know today as Green Hill Pond. What resulted was a 30-acre pond, providing, “pleasing vistas and opportunities for leisure and recreation where lawns, tree groves, and rocky outcroppings touched the shoreline.”
